Katrien Ante - Gunslinger Artificer

Owner of the Firearms & More, Katrien is a tinkerer and developer of the next wave of weapons that will seize the world. Her base of operations is in the pirate port known as Castle Horderich, located off the Arjun coast in the Runa Sea. She hopes to bring her brilliance and ability to the greater world, and was taken notice of by the Lord of Horderich, Pirate King Shikoba to help develop better cannons for his flagship, the Bachelor's Delight.

Physical Description

Katrien stands just a few inches short of 6 feet with oddly long fingers, perfect for tinkering and fine metal working. She wears a glass monocle that allows her to inspect very small materials and wears heavy leather armor as protection from errant explosions and fires in her workshop. She has a mop of curly red hair and slightly pointed ears, betraying her elvish heritage.

Backstory

Katrien has long been a wanderer, and only recently has made Castle Horderich her home - though that was more by force than willingness. She was originally from Milki, the capital of the desert kingdom of Maut, the home of Taqadam and Machina, deities devoted to invention and technology. She keeps a holy symbol to each hung on a necklace close to her heart as she claims they have directly inspired her many times when she was stuck on a problem.

When she was old enough to travel, much to her family's dismay, she began exploring the wide world. As an adventurer, her life was fraught with peril and she learned to quickly innovate or she was going to leave the world sooner than she'd like. It wasn't long before her skills with a firearm, and the innovations she made on them, had spread to cannoneers, gunsmiths, and to the ears of Pirate King Shikoba who had a love for cannons. While she was traveling from one port to the next in the Modi Ocean, the Bachelor's Delight came down on the merchant vessel, seizing the ship and Shikoba personally hiring Katrien to work on his cannons. Without much choice in the matter, Katrien agreed and has been stuck at Castle Horderich for almost a full year now.

With her wanderlust out of control, she is hoping to soon escape and continue her adventures across the world.

Tired of working on the Pirate King's cannons, Katrien wants a group of adventurers to steal the Bachelor's Delight and help her escape the pirates.
Smokepowder is created from the remains of fire elementals, but Katrien wants to experiment with residue left behind from various other elementals; perhaps an air elemental's residue will create smokeless powder!
There are some rather scary monsters out in the world that Katrien wants to match her firearms against, if the party is willing to join her on her monster hunts, she'll reward them greatly, may even give them a rifle if they ask nice enough.

Sesi Hogle - Ruffian

Survivor, thief, skilled, miscreant. Sesi has been called all of these and more. Whether absconding with a noble's prized possessions, or creating something valuable out of junk found on the street, Sesi wanders the city looking for her next chance to make a little gold. Street smarts have kept her alive. By developing contacts with reputable merchants and underworld individuals alike, Sesi not only survives but thrives.

Physical Description

Sesi stands 2 feet tall, making her on the small side for a kobold. Her skin is a dark red-orange color, and her sharp blue eyes are always scanning the landscape. Sesi changes her wardrobe and appearance constantly.

Backstory

Abandoned by her family in the capital city at the age of 2, Sesi had to learn how to survive at an early age. She sought out individuals of all types in an effort to learn whatever she could to endure. She mastered a number of skills from artisans throughout the city, from cutting precious stones to repairing discarded junk. Sesi also trained under a number of thieves, cat burglars, and short con artists. As she has gotten older, Sesi is willing to train and mentor others in an effort to pay it forward.

Sesi also developed her innate magical abilities, training under a series of sorcerers in her youth. As her powers grew, she made a promise to herself never to use her arcane knowledge to hurt others, only to assist her in whatever job came her away.

Eventually putting together her own small crew, Sesi has managed to make a living doing small jobs, legal and illicit, all while staying independent of the various gangs in the city. Now on the edge of adulthood, she is looking for larger scores, regardless of the risk.
