Gnits Zetuizz (Rogue) & Kling Ribsass (Ranger)
We are currently working on the 2nd edition of our holiday adventure, Crashing Winterfest. In this one-shot adventure, you and your friends play a group of goblins who have been tasked to rob Santa Claus. How’s that for the holiday spirit? One of the new additions will be a variety of pre-generated goblin characters for you to choose from. We’re condensing the character sheets into more traditional creature stat blocks, complete with a description and detailed background for each goblin. Our goal is to make this easier to dive right in without spending valuable time creating a character for a 4-hour adventure. Don’t worry; all the information you need to play is at your fingertips.
Below are examples of two characters, Gnits Zatuizz and Kling Ribsass. Gnits is a prankster who wants nothing more than to be a world-famous thief. Kling roams the frozen tundra hunting to provide food for his goblin clan. In this format, you can use them either as characters or creatures for characters to encounter.
Gnits Zetuizz
Gnits may not be the most successful or skilled rogue in his clan. That does deter him and his attempts to be the most successful and famed of all goblin-kind. Unfortunately for Gnits, he has met with limited success...so far.
Physical Description
Gnits is barely nineteen years old, and his size and youthful appearance give his face an innocent look. He always wears a wool knit skull cap and patchwork leather armor. Gnits tries to wear a scowl on his face and steely eyes but is quick to laugh, betraying his attempts to look tough.
Backstory
Gnits has followed in his father's footsteps, becoming one of many thieves in Icecrack. From a young age, Gnits was known for his ambitious nature and mischievous antics. Unlike most goblins of Icecrack, who are mean and serious about their pillaging, Gnits is always for finding humor in every situation, always breaking into a little jig or laughing loud and loud, even in the most dangerous circumstances.
Gnit's father and his father before him were thieves, and Gnits is determined to follow in the family business. What he really wants to be better than his father in his chosen trade. He knows it shouldn't be too hard, given his old man was shit at stealing, often getting caught with his hand in the proverbial cookie jar. Because his father was a mediocre thief at best, his family was far down the goblin totem pole in Icecrack. When he was younger, he was often seen wearing mismatched scraps of clothing—each piece acquired from his father's failed heists.
While Gnits wants nothing more than to be a great thief, his reputation in Icrcrack is both a thief and the clan's jester. Gnits would often break into homes, not to steal things as much as to practice his trade. While he might pilfer a small trinket or two, he usually instead left behind playful notes or silly drawings on the walls.
Despite his small stature, Gnits can outrun any pursuers and leap over obstacles with ease. If he was caught, which he was more than once, Gnits could usually talk his way out of trouble by playing the fool. If humor did not work, he would convince them his antics we a youthful indiscretion and vow never to do it again.
He dreams of one day pulling off the greatest heist of all time, but he does not know what it is. He hopes this is the opportunity he has been waiting for all his life.
Quick Reference Traits
Personality Traits. Ambitious and a natural goofball.
Ideals. I will become the greatest thief in goblin existence.
Bonds. His family, especially his father.
Flaws. A ridiculous Laugh and cracking jokes all the time.
Kling Ribsass
Kling is often found in the freezing cold and winded-swept lands around Icecrack, hunting for food and potential threats. He doesn't kill for sport, only to provide for or protect the clan. There are plenty of beasts he is just as friendly with as he is with friends in Icecrack. But any creature attacking him is fair game, including other goblins.
Physical Description
Kling stands a little over 3 feet tall and weighs 40 pounds. His face is weathered and as hard as leather from his constant exposure to the cold and wind on the frozen plains. Kling usually wears a thick canvas coat with a fur-lined hood, hiding the worn scale mail armor underneath.
Backstory
Growing up in Icecrack isn't easy for many goblins, but Kling always thrived in the harsh conditions of the frozen tundra. From a young age, he was fascinated by the beauty of the icy landscape and the creatures that inhabited it. He found himself connected to the land and the creatures inhabiting the snow and ice. Kling never hunted for sport, as many other goblins do, but only to provide for himself and the clan.
As he grew, Kling became a skilled hunter, honing his tracking, archery, and survival skills. He learned to move silently and swiftly across the snow and ice and read the frozen wilderness's subtle signs. He respected the beasts that roamed the frozen plains and fostered a friendly relationship with other humanoids who also called the land their home.
Kling's calm demeanor and personality drew other goblins to him, and he was a good friend to many. His skills were respected by many in the clan, and many of his friends would often seek his guidance if they had to trek out across the ice. Whenever he could, he would join them, leading expeditions across the tundra, hunting for food, and gathering resources while teaching them the ways of the arctic tundra. Together, they would celebrate their successes with a meal and more than a few glasses of wine, sharing stories of their adventures around the warmth of a fire.
Most goblins know Kling's good nature should not be mistaken for weakness. He is fiercely protective of his friends and his home in Icecrack. When faced with threats - be it from rival tribes, monstrous creatures of the tundra, or any other outside threat - Kling's demeanor shifts. He becomes a deadly opponent, and his opponents will see a frightening darkness in his eyes. When his fury is unleashed, Kling uses his bow and handaxes, his natural agility, knowledge of the terrain to outmaneuver and outsmart his adversaries, slaughtering them before they can comprehend the situation they are in. Recently, however, Kling worries that his enemy rules the clan he so fiercely protects.
Quick Reference Traits
Personality Traits. Helpful and usually good-natured.
Ideals. Live in harmony with others and nature, but be ruthless when that harmony is disturbed.
Bonds. His close friends and the clan.
Flaws. He often roams the tundra for weeks on end.
